I think it's too charitable to believe that Trump is bumbling his way through the multiple crises facing the US. He is explicitly doing the bidding of his donors and McConnell, the latter desired the cessation of SS, Medicare, and Medicaid for years. As long as he is protected, Trump will do the bidding of those who can help him achieve his goals. The remainder of the GOP has either overtly aided in the decimation of democracy or have gone so far in enabling Trump that there is no viable path to resist at this late date. Unfortunately, Pelosi seems to have placed all her eggs in the final stimulus package, while McConnell seems to have gambled that a dictatorship means that his Senate majority is no longer essential. It's clear that House oversight is yet another casualty of the Trump administration. So now what? Hundreds of lawsuits trying to preserve the last vestiges of freedom? We have a majority on SCOTUS that apparently is unconcerned about voter suppression. Other than massive turnout, early voting, early mail-in voting, waiting in lines for hours, I'm not sure that there is anything more that citizens can do.
