So Jerry Falwell, Jr. is a big tr$mpster and even a NC Republican congressman who is also a right wing christianist preacher has condemned Falwell. What cynicism! And franklin graham's, daddy was bad enough and look what a jerk franklin is. tr$mp says he likes god but one thing's for sure it ain't the God of Love people like Moses, Jesus, Muhammed, Mother Teresa, and St Francis loved with all their heart. We've got our work cut out for us. Loving our "enemies" is damn difficult but it's the only way folks like Jesus taught real disciples to follow. Is this a fight for the soul of America? I guess you could say that as long as you understand this kind of fight involves non violent resistance. I'd say we need some more good trouble--the kind John Lewis advocated.
Let's be clear that all hard core conservatives be they black, white, Latino, etc. are all about the monopolization of political, social, and economic power. That's why they just love authoritarianism wrapped around white supremacy and plutocratic economics. Since they know they can't overtly state this kind of political and economic regime, it's no accident they consistently trot out a parade of black people to whitewash their agenda.
GOP speakers aver that if the Dems win, America as we know it will be dead. DEM speakers aver that if the GOP wins, America as we know it will be dead. How the hell do we move on from this mess?
Pay little attention to what they say. Pay a lot of attention to what they've done. It also helps to see who supports them, e.g. the more than two dozen former Republican lawmakers that endorsed Biden yesterday, the 70 former Republican National Security Officials that endorsed Biden last week (see their statement: https://www.defendingdemocracytogether.org/national-security/ ).
At a political event, like the conventions, it is expected that each party will put forth their positives, omit their negatives, and tell half-truths. Last night Tim Scott and Nikki Haley did this. But most of the others followed Trump's lead and told lies. Trump's history before becoming president says much about his character.
My favorite short sentence from last week was from Kamala: “I know a predator when I see one.”
