Today is a day for honoring the men and women who served the United States with their military service. That’s as specific as the day gets. In other words, don’t let anyone else define for you the meaning and significance of this holiday. That’s giving away your freedom. If all you want to do is enjoy the long weekend, then so be it.
That’s what I’m doing. I write every day, but I’m taking today off. There will be more than enough to talk about tomorrow. Meanwhile, please enjoy the child’s picture of “America, the Beautiful.” And please consider subscribing if you’re not already.
Thank you! —JS

And so today would not be a day for honoring soldiers who fought in the Confederate states treasonous war against the United States and especially not honoring R E Lee and other such rascals. I hope that's what you mean. Thanks and enjoy your day.
