I am no religious scholar; I grew up Catholic and am now Unitarian-Universalist, but Mr. Olumuyiwa is describing the Jesus Christ who I learned about as a child in Catholic school. We sang "God is Love, and he who abides in Love, abides in God." It makes no sense to think that a loving God would punish the world with disease. It is inconsistent with the teachings of Jesus, who is also a prophet in the Islamic faith. To the extent that Jesus found fault with anything, it was with greed and selfishness. My deepest gratitude to Mr. Olumuyiwa for stating the Christian case for love, mercy, and universal salvation so eloquently.
