He comes from an old socialist mold, one that holds that the economic "base"--when seen rightly--can overcome the superstructural, "false consciousness" misdirections of institutionalized discrimination. Post-marxist thinking is long past that sclerotic view. Bernie has yet to catch up. The second, which was raised but not hammered: gun control.
