Stoehr: "Urgency, in other words, isn’t action."

Urgency, action -- imo, you're splitting hairs.

Urgency cannot exist (and certainly cannot PERsist) without action. (Google definition: "urgency -- importance requiring swift action.")

Lack of urgency is what drove 2016's low Democratic voter turn-out. If voter turn-out for Clinton in WI, MI and PA had matched Obama's 2012 turn-out, Clinton would have won.

Despite Russia. Despite Comey. Despite MSM's complicity in harping on her email "scandal". And despite ever-present and pervasive Republican malfeasance.

Stoehr: "All of this could have been prevented if all of us sincerely believed in voting and acted accordingly."

Stevens would counsel us to "urgently believe in voting".

Stoehr: "While some, like Stuart Stevens, are patting themselves on the back for a premature job well done, I’m not."

This strikes me as an unfair misrepresentation of Steven' article, especially in light of the fact that you and he reach what I see as identical conclusions:

Stoehr: "Biden must not simply win. He must win by a landslide. . . . . As a result, Biden must not merely beat Trump. To save democracy, he has to crush him."

Stevens: "We are going to crush Donald Trump and the sickness he represents. . . . . Trump is collapsing and his allies of convenience are panicked. Now is when you turn a victory into a rout."

As the old saying goes, actions speak louder than words. In our red state, thanks to a fluke that gave us a Democratic governor, early and absentee voting is a big deal this year and it has been run well. Fear of Covid is now a valid reason to request an absentee ballot and when ours arrived they even had little "sign here" stickers on them. When you're ready to send in your ballot, you can take it directly to your county courthouse where they have Saturday hours and secured dropboxes inside the courthouse. I dropped ours off this past Saturday.

Again, I could't agree with you more. Bragging a little, we voted for Biden and Harris and all the other Democrats on the ballot over a month ago and took out Absentee ballots to the office of the Board of Elections. If some people want to stand in long lines for the romance of voting that's o k with me and I hope they all vote for Biden. NC is one of those states where he needs to win by an extra large majority. The last time I stood in what seemed like a mile long line was to vote for Carter to have a 2nd term. Of course I was a lot younger then and I stuck it out and voted for Carter and all the other Democrats. Anyway, everybody vote and vote for Biden even if you liked another Democratic candidate better.
