I wish I had your optimism, John. While the Dems go thru their beloved processes, the GOP has made it nearly impossible for them to lose the House with these retrograde laws.
Further - law and order WORKED in 2020 for the GOP -they picked up an alarming number of House seats running on it - by weaponising "Defund the police" . Further no cops seem to be supporting the Capitol hill police. Their unions are perversely quiet.
I pray you're right but Dems ALWAYS seem to be 3 steps behind the "war" curve. (See the tightening of the recall vote in my state for a current example.)
We are still very much in an "antebellum" moment...except with worse architecture.

I don't know if I'm right. I only hope I am. I'm in the stream of history, too.
