There is a tendency to assign motives to the chaos that is Trump. My personal analysis is that there is no single motive for most actions of and statements by Trump. His mind is the original 'swamp'. Within its confines lies a black hole of endless need for attention and adulation, a reflexive need to annihilate both criticisms and criticizers, a reptilian sense of self-preservation, a nihilistic and corrupt view of humanity that exploits the weak-willed and corrupts the cynical, and finally, the gangster's understanding that justice can be delayed and too often, denied. These motivations are inseparable from one another in the primordial sewage that is our commander-in-chief. He is simultaneously unable to believe that he will ever face accountability and willing to burn the universe to save himself. There are no questions about Trump that I care to learn the answers to...the only real mystery is why so many Americans have fashioned him into their 21st-century golden idol.
I was going to post a comment, but you eloquently exceeded everything I was going to say. I too have been amazed at the Cult of Trump phenomenon. Trump represents to this cult what an imagined deity does to a religious cult, except that Trump is an actual physical being with awesome powers that he wields for destruction.
Perhaps you’re being rhetorical, but it isn’t a mystery why so many Americans love Trump. John et al have written ad nausea about the Confederacy inside our country, WEP’s, non-college educated whites, rural blue collar folks, etc., etc., and their loyalty to Trump. Collectively they represent 40% of our country. By 2025 that number may be around 30%, as some are predicting. All we need to do is vote! In person! If possible. Vote!
Two days in a row, John. Two days (and counting) Raw Story has you up as the banner headliner! Congrats!
Thanks!
