Irony = anti-vax folks carrying signs reading "my body my choice" who will tomorrow be found picketing on front of the local Planned Parenthood clinic.
On immigration, those on the Right whom I've talked to are TOTALLY oblivious as to why there are folks from south of our borders seeking refuge in the first place, evidently ignorant of the famine, drought and political unrest (unrest that WE caused) in the homelands they are fleeing.
Well, yeah. When one has no useful knowledge of other peoples and cultures, one has no reference for comparison with one's own. All 'others' are attacking; none are escaping...
Faith defies logic, therefore it is illogical to attempt reasoning with the faithful. And fear is a centerpiece of many (not all) religions and the like – when faith breaks, there is nothing to replace that, and many faithful people are desolated. They fear that for certain – I've witnessed that a number of times. What's changed in the past couple decades in my view is the switch from earnestly trying to save us heathens (I experienced that several times in the old days) to simply hoping we go away and die.
Been there, survived that. I think it was LaHaye who most recently popularized the end times with those books he wrote, referring to non-believers as the "enemy" and that God was now cool with you being filled with glee as you watch them all die during Armageddon.

I always envisioned a Behind series: Left Behind, Right Behind, Get Yer Hands Off My Behind... Sadly, it was not to be.
GYHOMB. I would have probably bought that book. Depending on the cover art.
What can the far right offer in return for people surrendering democratic power?
The lure of fascism is the glint of collective supremacy through the fog of individual inferiority.
