I can only say that on a personal level, it's unfortunate that black people must first get killed and killed egregiously before well-meaning white Americans see that their own lives are at stake. It happened leading up to and during the Civil War, it happened during the Civil Rights movement, and it's happening again. I think the rapid confluence of the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Abery plus the Central Park dog trail incident formed an inescapable cauldron of pain and rage that no one with a brain and heart could ignore.

I am slightly hopeful but not much. The racists and reactionaries are not going to evolve, at least not quickly. Not to sound too pessimistic or cynical, we'll see how this eventually sorts out.

Sad that the central premise is that Trump used gas on protesters, which has proven to be false. That aside, I agree that it is time for change. George Floyd was killed in a deeply Dem city in a deeply Dem state. Yet the author blames decades of failed Dem leadership on President Trump. It is time to try something else. #Walkaway

Regime change, for this case would look like voting out the Dems that have precipitated the institutional failures we see.
