Its about time. The timeline of how this should all play out is very interesting. If you look at the huge effort to get almost every person vaccinated by this fall. Then the kids go back to school as companies gradually call workers back to work. An infrastructure jobs bill will be in the works and pass probably next spring if not sooner. The huge tax cut package should be repealed instead of just simply raising taxes. And the Republican party can see the writing on the wall that momentum is building for another really good turnout and results of the 2022 midterms. In my opinion the Democratic party is in very good position and the middle class will then build towards an even bigger record turnout for the 2024 presidential election.

Yup.

The insight I had 40 years ago was that Republicans had run out of ideas for governance and had decided to go with the full suite of big lies, because that was all they had left. I marveled then at how well it worked. What I did not link to was the pure fascism also on display – it was not til later that I realized the big lie routine (a well-proven technique for disassembling a society) was the central lever that fascism pressed on. My faith-in-humanity blinders kept me from seeing that the lie was the point – without the lie the rest of it falls apart (or more to the point – never gets assembled in the first place).

So here we are now in an existential struggle, one that we depend on our elected officials to fight with every weapon and tool within their reach. And maybe, finally, Democrats are figuring out that the thing that their party's name derives from is in imminent threat of extinction. And maybe they are figuring out that without democracy itself, a party calling itself "democratic" is nothing but the butt end of a joke...

Like you, like my friends, we’ve run out of trying to work together with the republicans. They see their job as to obstruct and say no. Not govern. So Dem legislators, to my absolute delight, are saying work with us, or not. If not, we’ll work around you, or walk over you, but we’ll get it done. Finally!

Totally agree, but the decision yesterday by "moderate Democrats" to change the cutoff for stimulus checks is mind-bogglingly stupid and TERRIBLE optics, not to mention policy. Dem politicians continue to shoot themselves in the foot.
