Weiss and those like her are simply posers. They pretend that they care about free speech and democracy, but in reality they hide their authoritarian and reactionary impulses with pretty, idealistic sounding words.

Back in the old days on USENET, someone like Weiss would engage in the bash-and-dash ritual: Say something truly vile and insulting (hello Andrew Sullivan!, say hi Laura Ingram!), then claim victimhood and the defense of free speech against the mean ol' cancel culture liberals.

That Weiss published her "resignation" on her personal website shows that she was engaged in a sham. If she were truly discriminated against, why didn't she file a lawsuit? As my parents would say, some people can dish it out but can't take it and good riddance to bad rubbish.

"...she should have filed a lawsuit. Instead, she posted her resignation letter to her personal website."

She's looking for a pity party. And some Wingnut Welfare®

A democracy can (and should) tolerate a variety of voices, but, as with so much of American society these days, Bari Weiss is a reflection of the rise of well-marketed mediocrity.
