I don't know much about economics. What I believe is that all people, whatever their financial status at this present time, should have enough wherewithal to live comfortable lives with good shelter, nourishment, healthcare, transportation, entertainment, etc. I think you get my drift. This would mean some folks would not have as much money and property as they have now and others would have more than they have now since they don't currently have enough. To paraphrase a saying, the rich would get "poorer" and the poor would get "richer". Call this socialialism, communism or whatever you want. I think, John, your word is "freedom". Some would call it naive. I don't care. I do believe there's plenty to go round. It's greed selfishness, lying, and a lack of respect for other folks that cause the problems in the world. As the song says, what the world needs most is love sweet love. Isn't it the Dalai Lama who says something like 'kindness is my religion'? I wish it were everybody's religion, moral philosophy, or whatever you want to call it.

Sanders is not as far 'left' as Hubert Humphrey was...Humphrey's failure was his 'support' of the American war in Viet Nam. It may have made the difference in his loss in 68. But domestically he was seriously left of pretty much anyone, even then...

I voted for Humphrey even though I completely disagreed with him about the war in Viet Nam.

I feel like we do need to be talking more about economics. The reality is, the consensus among economists is that $15 minimum wage is a good idea: https://noahpinion.substack.com/p/why-15-minimum-wage-is-pretty-safe
