Journalism and time will be the only things which will make this president accountable, partially in this lifetime and definitely in everyone to follow. History will not regard us well.

The Amplification of Multiple Existential Threats

5-6 years ago, we were mostly concerned with 2 existential threats to the world:

* Climate Change

* Iran Building a Nuclear Weapon

But led by the US, the world made important steps in dealing with these:

* The Paris Climate Accord

* The JCPOA - the deal with Iran

And, then in 2017, we created our own existential threat: The election of Trump. Trump cancelled both of the above, decimated EPA, NOAA, and conned 30+% of the American people in to believing reliable news sources were fake news, passed tax legislation that is "socialism for the rich"; and, put incompetent leaders into the executive branch of gov't, etc.

So, by the end of 2019, we were then dealing with 3 existential threats: Trump, Iran, and Climate Change. The Dems tried to remove the biggest threat, ie Trump, in early 2020. Unfortunately, that failed.

If you were Dr. Evil, you could have not picked a better time to launch a Worldwide Pandemic. So, now we are dealing with our 4th existential threat.

Today, the way that the Trump administration has handled the pandemic, it is being referred to as "Trump's Katrina". I think that is incorrect. When the history of this time is written about in 30 years, this time will eclipse all the other fiascos in the 1st half of the 21st century. The historians might even refer to George Bush's big fiascos (Iraq and Katrina) as "Bush's Pandemic".

Cynically, our condition reminds me of the end of the movie Dr. Stangelove:
