I used to believe that the press would finally begin treating their role in our democracy with respect and integrity. I no longer believe that this will ever occur with most MSM journalists. Sarah Kendzior famously noted that Trump covers his malice with scandals, knowing that our media will ignore the former in favor of attention garnered by the latter. Perhaps the media in their haste to write books and schedule cable news appearances have failed to notice that Hungary's last remaining independent newspaper just closed its doors. Perhaps, as with diehard Trump supporters, the WH press corp and too many in the media, until the consequences of their decisions prove disastrous to their own wellbeing, nothing will change.
