With respect to "communism", that word, like "love", can mean so many different things. If it's a synonym for "Stalinism", it is, in my view bad and it makes most folks think of terrorism and genocide. If it's a synonym for sharing everything according to people's needs it could be a synonym for love for all humankind. So many words carry so much baggage that they're more often misused.
