There's no doubt that Trump will pursue a punish-the-Blue-states/rewards the-Red-states strategy. But if he's expecting the Red states to open for business -- well, I have my doubts. Mississippi, for example, is hurtling toward disaster. They have a profoundly unhealthy population; their rural hospital system has collapsed; and they haven't expanded Medicaid.

I expect the situation in many other Red states to be similarly dire.

I'm not suggesting Red state voters will turn on him. They won't. They're deep into the death cult. I just don't think we'll see a big Blue/Red divide in which state will "open for business."

You are no doubt accurate in your characterization of the reactive id that is our 45th president, but even his simplistic mind must grasp the simple fact that if New York fails, the country fails. No amount of stimulus will be sufficient if NY is forced to remain in quarantine because Trump cannot execute the most basic functions of governance.
