You have probably heard about the “whistle-blower complaint.” And like everyone else, you don’t know what it’s about. It has something to do with a “promise” Donald Trump made to a foreign leader. That could mean anything. So for now, I’m going to assume it’s nothing. I’m so tired of the KABOOM crowd ginning up mania on social media. I’ve been through enough of these cycles to grow jaded.
That said, we must stay alert. There’s this from Sept. 5 to consider from the Post’s editorial board:
we’re reliably told that … [Trump] is attempting to force Mr. Zelensky [Ukraine’s new president] to intervene in the 2020 U.S. presidential election by launching an investigation of the leading Democratic candidate, Joe Biden. Mr. Trump is not just soliciting Ukraine’s help with his presidential campaign; he is using U.S. military aid the country desperately needs in an attempt to extort it.
Are these related? I have no idea. I hope we find out. I expect we won’t.
The only thing we do know is there’s something rotten in Washington. —JS
I'm leary of these stories as well. Although I think it's notable that Trump didn't exactly deny the story today. There have also been a number of stories over the past 24 hours that have expanded the claims. Apparently the complaint was about a series of calls made by Trump, that involved some sort of promise that triggered the whistleblower complaint.
It's a strange story and while I'm not getting frantic about it yet, it does seriously worry me.

Well, this appears to have been very prescient of you!
