Sanctioned sadism is masked by many Conservative policies that give it political cover. MTG is a useful tool for those Republicans in the House and Senate because her theatrics can be publically disavowed while nothing is done to rid the Chamber of this scourge. MTG's actions are calculated to reach Trump Thumpers and keep them invested and engaged as voters--voters who will continue to vote in opposition to their own self-interests.
MTG may be engaging in political theater because it will gain her more fringe followers, more clicks and eyeballs, and make extreme hate behavior more mainstream. How far can she push outrageous behavior? Will conservative Republicans push back? Probably not. Or she is using the Trump playbook and working through it, making her own version.
